The Experience of Christ Who became my Life, Do Kyung Choi

I thank and praise the Lord that He led me to the local church in His grace and mercy.

I was born in a denominational family and I have been meeting in that denomination for 38 years. I was a plain Christian working at all general service, after marriage, through children's, student's, and young adult's meetings, as well as with choir. I felt empty and missed something. It did not take a long time to find myself living a worldly life after a revival, a prayer meeting, and the Lord's day meeting. If my situation became a little bit hard, I cried out to the Lord. When it didn't look like He was going to quickly reply, I tried to fix all my problems by my own effort. Though I knew a lot of words in the Bible, I did not experience the Christ living in those words. So I lived a mixed Christian life again and again.

Yet I could attend a Bible study for several years in that denomination in His grace. Meanwhile from Spring 1989 a Bible study on Romans was started. I was eager to do that. By summer, even though I knew that Romans 8 was known as a good word in my denomination, after the Bible study I felt stuffy because I didn't feel free from the law of sin and death by the law of the Spirit of life.

But I had a chance of listen to a tape of a Lord's day meeting of a local church that was about Romans 8. At that time, at that moment I sensed the Lord was living to me in the words “the law of the Spirit of life.” He came into me and enlightened me, opening my eyes. When I totally realized Romans 8, I was filled up with joy. After that I began meeting constantly with the local church and heard about the church in the book of Ephesians. Then my family also began to meet with the local church.

In the local church, I want to build His Body and pursue the consummation of the Body, the New Jerusalem (Revelation 21:2, 9-10). To be the New Jerusalem is a glorious way but most of all He demands me to deny my “self” and take up the cross (Galatians 2:20). I believe through this kind of life the Body of Christ can be built up in this earth and the kingdom of the Lord can come soon. Glory to the Lord and Hallelujah.
